Chhang Dawa Sherpa is a popular mountaineer who has made a name for himself by climbing some of the highest mountains in the world. Chhang and his brother Mingma Sherpa collectively became the first duo to climb all the 14 peaks and hold the world record as the “first brothers to summit the 14 highest peaks”. Moreover, he became the youngest climber to have climbed the 14 peaks in 2019.

Chhang Dawa Sherpa is one of the most successful mountaineers in the country. He, alongside his brother, achieved the prize of the “World’s First Two Brothers” Guinness World Record for climbing all 14 of the world’s mountains that are higher than 8000 meters. The brothers used artificial oxygen for only 4 peaks out of all 14 peaks above 8000 meters. This, too, is one of the most victorious things for a mountaineer.
The world record that the brothers broke happens to be one of the first and only titles that anyone has ever received throughout all these years.
Mountains Summitted by Chhang Dawa Sherpa
Chhang has successfully climbed many mountains to this date. He has been successful in reaching all the highest mountains in the world, or the 14 peaks above the altitude of 8000 meters. This is a great achievement not just for him but also for every Nepali. Besides the 14 peaks, there are many other mountains that the climber has peaked.

Chhang Dawa started off his journey with Makalu in 2001. Besides this year, he climbed the peak again in 2008. Moreover, other mountains that he has been successful in climbing are Lhotse, Cho-Yu, Mount Everest, Makalu, Broad Peak, Dome Kang, Nanga Parbat, G-I, Manaslu, Langtang Lirung, Kanchanjunga, G-II, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri I, K-2, and Shisha Pangma.
Among these peaks, he has climbed mountains like Makalu, Manaslu, Mt. Everest, and G-I multiple times throughout his time as an expeditor.
While his first climb was in 2001, his most recent climb has been in the year 2020.
Chhang Dawa Sherpa led in Karakoram expeditions
Mt. K2 is one of the most dangerous mountains in the world and the second-highest peak. However, Chhang has not limited himself in his career as a true mountain lover. He has been leading the Karakoram expedition since 2012. He is active in his work as a mountaineer even now.
The winter expedition of K2 is another one of his team’s victorious expeditions to this date. Nirmal Purja and Mingma “G” Gelje led a Nepali mountaineer team to the top of K2, which happens to be one of the most talked about and successful expeditions of all time. Chhang Dawa was also a part of this expedition. However, he stayed back in the K2 base camp while a member of his team succeeded in summitting the peak alongside ten other summiteers. This team was the first one to be victorious in a winter expedition.
Chhang Dawa Sherpa led most ascents of Annapurna in a single year
Mount Annapurna stands tall at the height of 8091 meters above sea level. Sherpa has been leading several mountain ascents to this day. Chhang Dawa Sherpa has been one to lead the most ascent of Mount Annapurna in 2019. There were a total of 32 ascents of the mountain that was led by this Sherpa.
There has not been a record of over 32 climbs or ascents in a single year by an individual except this one. Hence, Chhang Dawa Sherpa happens to be one of the most successful Sherpas to succeed in doing so to this date.

Chhang Dawa Sherpa and Mingma Sherpa
Chhang Dawa Sherpa and his brother Mingma Sherpa has scored the rarest title in the Guinness Book of World Record. No other duo has been able to outscore them in this title. The brothers have been able to climb all 14 peaks in the world, which are all above the height of 8000 meters. The brothers went from north to south of every peak that they could in an attempt to climb the peaks of the 14 mountains. All the mountains are situated in Asia itself.
“We were the first brothers to climb all 14 highest mountains in the world, and now we are setting out to climb the highest peaks in the seven continents and reach both poles to become the ‘grand slam brothers of mountaineering’ in the climbing community,”
Mingma said in an interview with The Associated Press news agency in Kathmandu.
The duo was set to go to Antarctica back in 2021.
