Sherpa and his brother climbed all the 8000-ers except for four without any aid from sponsors or artificial oxygen. Anyone who visits these mountains can barely survive without artificial aid. However, the brothers set yet another record by ascending to and from the mountains without any such aid. Moreover, they independently did everything.

Mingma climbed his first 9 mountains among the 14 before he went to Japan looking for better work opportunities. However, he returned to Nepal and climbed the rest of the 5 mountains. He succeeded in doing so.

Mingma Sherpa is not only the best mountaineer alive in Nepal, but he is also a commercially accomplished man. He founded Seven Summit Treks alongside his brother Chhang Dawa Sherpa a few years ago. Mingma has been successful in summiting seven peaks so far, some of which are Mount Everest (8848 m), Aconcagua (6961m), Denali (6194m), Kilimanjaro (5859m), Mount Elbrus (5642m), and Mount Vinson (4892m) in years 2004, 2022, 2022, 2022, 2022, and 2022, respectively.

However, in hopes of exploring the south pole, they also collaborated with their youngest brother Tashi Lakpa Sherpa.

The three brothers made a great trio and have been more than eager for exploration since 2021. 2020 was not the best year for them as COVID-19 blocked much of their adventures. However, they started planning and proceeding with their plans of going mount climbing at the start of 2021.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Mingma said,

“We were the first brothers to climb all 14 highest mountains in the world, and now we are setting out to climb the highest peaks in the seven continents and reach both the Poles to become the ‘grand slam brothers of mountaineering’ in the climbing community,”.

The trio spent a month in Antarctica in an attempt to scale Mt Vinson and ski the last degree (the South Pole). They have been recorded, yet again, as the first three siblings to score this accomplishment.

Twenty team members led by Mingma Sherpa’s brother Chhang Dawa Sherpa and associated with Seven Summit Treks ascended Nanga Parbat in 2023. Sherpa proudly shared a picture of the summiteers on his Instagram with the caption,

“This is the first in the history that 20 climbers from the same team successfully climbed Nanga Parbat in One Single Day.”
